Empowering Baltimore’s Youth – Mentoring Male Teens : guest Cameron Miles

As part of the Black Men Matter Series, this episode highlights Cameron E. Miles, founder of Mentoring Male Teens in the ’Hood. Since 1996, Miles has guided more than 6,000 boys in Baltimore through mentorship, tutoring, educational travel, and community programs. His work offers young men critical tools for resilience and direction, while challenging stereotypes and expanding opportunities for Black youth.

About Mentoring Male Teens in the ‘Hood

In this episode of “The Male Perspective,” Lana talks with Cameron E. Miles, the Director and Founder of Mentoring Male Teens in the ‘Hood.’ Since 1996, Mr. Miles has dedicated his work to mentoring boys aged 8 to 18 in Baltimore and its surrounding regions. His program offers a range of enriching experiences, including educational travel, guest speakers, college tours, and tutoring, all designed to inspire young boys to recognize and embrace their inherent potential. Through these initiatives, the program cultivates a nurturing atmosphere that motivates the boys to steer clear of negative influences and strive for excellence in their lives.

“The Male Perspective” is hosted by Lana Reid, the founder of Conversations in Color, a nonprofit 501(c)3 grassroots organization dedicated to providing uplifting and community building spaces of dialogue for Black voices.

  • TAPESTRY OF BLACK VOICES AWARDS: The “Tapestry of Black Voices Awards” honors our local communities and showcases the incredible creativity and voices of Black communities throughout the United States.
