An Innovative Mental Health Research Project – Exploring Black Male Experiences: guest Jadarius Evans

As part of the Black Men Matter Series, this episode features Jadarius Evans, LPC-A, NCC, M.Ed., Ed.S., who is spearheading Project H.E.A.R.T.โa community-based mental health research initiative using photovoice to amplify the lived experiences of Black men and teenage Black males. Through narrative storytelling and photography, the project invites participants to co-research, share insight, and help shape education, clinical practice, and policy.
Why Photovoice Matters for Black Male Mental Health
In this episode of “The Male Perspective,” Lana talks with Jadarius Evans, LPC-A, NCC, M.Ed., Ed.S. As a mental health researcher, Jadarius discusses the community-based, community-focused research project that he will lead, called Project H.E.A.R.T. This initiative employs photovoice, a qualitative participatory research technique that highlights participantsโ lived experiences through photography and narrative storytelling. The research initiative creates a space where Black men and teens can serve as co-researchers, documenting their experiences, sharing their perspectives, and directly influencing data that informs clinical practice, education, and policy.
